About Emmy Photography

I’m Emily—the California-based travel and landscape photographer behind Emmy, a nickname given to me by my mother and one I’ve carried with me for as long as I can remember.

My relationship with photography began early, shaped by travel with my grandmother and later by my father, who gave me my first “real” camera—a 35mm Minolta I still own. What began as simple documentation slowly became a more immersive way of seeing—one shaped by presence, awareness, and time.

My work is rooted in slow immersion. I spend extended time in a place, observing its rhythms, light, and subtle shifts rather than moving quickly from one moment to the next. I’m drawn to natural landscapes, coastal environments, and expressive urban details—spaces where atmosphere, texture, and emotion quietly intersect.

I often work during golden and blue hour, allowing natural light and mood to guide each frame. My approach is intuitive and observational, shaped by time spent looking rather than chasing.

Alongside my photography practice, I publish Odisea, a long-form storytelling project where I share reflections on travel, creativity, and the unfolding process of becoming. If Odisea holds the words, Emmy holds the way I see.
